Before Easter, people in Dalmatia (which is part of Croatia) have long tradition and at unique way -pass through- days before Easter, or to be more specific, recalling Jesus suffers in days before he died. So in different parts of Croatia people do it on specific way. I will mention one place called Lovrec which is situated 70 km south east from Split city.

On Good Friday people from all villages which belong to Lovrec are walking in procession about 13 km through all villages’ wearing a big cross on the shoulders. It is a great honour to carry the cross and during procession people are changing to wear it. The choir sing in procession the impressive melodious song "Crying of Our Lady" from the 15th century. They called this procession “The cross way”. Through whole way of procession people pray and sing recalling Jesus suffer to the final death on the cross. Interesting thing is that in villages people meet them and offer them food and refreshment. This is some pictures how it looks like.

Tradition of Good Friday is to eat fish and drink red wine. Children use to paint eggs and grandmothers bake sweet bread for Easter day. They always made more to give family and friends. The most interesting animation for children at Easter is to make a egg competition and stamp each others egg, the strongest egg wins and the owner of that egg is winner.

Easter Sunday involves going to the early morning mass with small baskets filled with food to be blessed; eating a breakfast of ham, eggs, grated horse radish, spring onion and home-made bread; and a dinner of turkey. Little children might also get candy from the Easter Bunny. And Easter Monday is for visiting relatives.

I wish you all a very happy and blessed Easter!

Generally, those ladies are painting the ships and they are very good in that.

They are all young and educated with long working experience. Many of them have even very good accomplishment. We use to say here “situation force you to use any option you can get“. Well all I can say:” Hat down” for them. We all know that working conditions there are extremely dangerous and also death cases are not rarity on that kind of job.

Hi I am back (-:, with some more information about my favourite Island Vis, on the island there are to main cities Vis(here you arrive with the ferry) and Komiža, both of them are wonderful relaxing places where you really feel you are on holiday, I am sure you will not disagree to this.
.
.
But of course when you are here you should also not miss out on Stiniva bay and the blue cave. Stiniva bay you can only reach by boat from ?, with the boat you will sail trough the few meter wide entrance, before anchoring up in front of the 30 meter long pebble beach.
.

.
The Blue cave (Modra Spilja) on the island of Bisevo (Close to Komiža) is a natural phenomenon, where reflections of sunlight creates a marvellous light effect in blue and silver colours inside the cave. As I was child I used to swim here with my brother, once I remember we saw a sea turtle, as we came of the caves, which is something very rare here.

.

On the Island you find plenty of good restorations especially fish, all of them very good, but as for everything there is always a favourite mine is tavern „Jastozera” in Komiža, before many years the place used to be a reservoir for lobsters, so you can still sail into the restaurant with small boats and enjoy the excellent food.

.

.

Near by is also tavern –konoba “Bako” directly on the beach. In that tavern there are lot of things witnessing about peoples life in the past but the most precious and valuable is archaeological collection of Tonko Borcic Bako situated in the tavern. Bako was well known diver from Komiza.

.
.
In Vis I of course also have a favourite restaurant, the Villa Kaliopa, with its spectacular garden; the restaurant is ranked as one of best in Croatia.
.
.
So what’s left to say? Visit Croatia, come to Vis - you want regret it!!!

After the war the cathedral was renovated with help of foreign experts, by the renovation works, it was discovered how unique this cathedral actually is, the building is the first montage building in Europe, and it is build completely in stone without use of any other material, even the roof has been build with out the use of wood.

.

.

As the historical and architectural value of this monument became clear, the ministry of culture started action to put the cathedral of Sv. Jakov/ St. Jacob at UNESCO register of world heritage list. The approval is still in progress.

The Cathedral was built in the 15th century by the architect 1441. Juraj Matejev Dalmatinac. The Cathedral is original building combination of gothic and renaissance style, inside it is a unique example of some kind culmination of humanistic spirit and early renaissance art/paint directions.
